The Volley

The Volley

The volley is when you make contact with the ball before it bounces. Most volley's occur 6 to 8 feet off the net. The number one mistake made by players, is that they will try to swing at the volley. The correct thing to do, is punch the ball. When hitting the volley you also want to step, letting your foot make contact with the ground as you make contact with the ball. The foot you step with is very important. If your raquet is on the rightside of your body, regardless if it is your forehand or backhand, you will step with the opposite foot. In this instance it would be your left foot. Vis-versa for when the raquet is on your left. After hitting your volley always get back to the center of the court, and be in ready position.
