Alignment:
Alignment is clearly one of the most important fundamental aspects of the golf swing. The idea of railroad tracks is probably the best analogy for alignment with the feet being on one track and the ball lying on the other track, which subsequently points at our target. This can and should be used for putting as well as full swings. However, sometimes golf course architects can and do make tee shot alignment difficult. Our tee boxes on number 1 and 11 are perfect examples. In both cases, the tee boxes all line-up in a straight line towards hazards. This is why it is always a good idea to get behind your ball before every shot. Get yourself in a position where the ball is between you and your intended target and focus on that line. If necessary, pick out something on the ground close to your ball and use it for proper alignment. Don’t be a victim to a sadistic golf course architect. |
